Focused shortlist for internal IT support. Assess ticket handling, ownership, service targets, asset integration and the selected licence tier.
Stuart Kerr Spindlow has confirmed prior experience with the software covered by Happy SysAdm. This comparison’s plan-specific recommendations are editorial analysis of documentation reviewed on 23 September 2026, not a claim that every named plan or current release was personally tested. Calculations and AI-run checks are identified separately. The shortlist

The main scenario is three support agents handling incidents, requests, a service catalogue and assets without operating their own help-desk server. Freshservice Growth is the more direct fit for the hosted service-management brief. GLPI Network Public Cloud is the alternative for a team that puts inventory and linked asset records at the centre of support.
Freshservice Starter is not used as a substitute for Growth’s stated catalogue-and-SLA brief merely because its displayed price is lower. If formal problem, change and release management are required, Freshservice Pro is the relevant tier in the reviewed plan summary. Self-hosted GLPI may suit infrastructure control requirements, but comparing its zero community licence fee directly with managed SaaS would omit hosting and maintenance.
Who should avoid each option
Use these exclusions alongside the shortlist and the plan-specific analysis. A requirement that the selected edition cannot meet rules it out even if its headline price is attractive.
| Option | Avoid this option when | Better alternative or qualifying tier | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freshservice Growth | Formal problem, change or release management requires the reviewed Pro scope | Freshservice Pro for that broader brief; GLPI for an asset-centred workflow | A lower agent price is useful only when the required workflow is included |
| GLPI Network Public Cloud | The published attachment allowance or availability terms do not satisfy the service | A qualifying hosted plan or Freshservice with verified required capacity and controls | Confirm contractual capacity and availability; do not substitute an observed-uptime claim |
| GLPI self-hosted | You want supplier-managed hosting and have no patching or recovery owner | GLPI Public Cloud or Freshservice for a qualifying hosted brief | A community licence fee does not cover operating the platform |
The cost for three agents
Freshservice’s US-dollar pricing checked on 23 September 2026 lists Growth at $49 per agent per month billed annually. Three agents calculate to $1,764 per year. Pro at $99 calculates to $3,564 for the same seats, a $1,800 annual difference for its broader feature scope. Optional AI and additional asset capacity can add cost.
GLPI Network Public Cloud lists €19 per standard-interface user per month excluding tax, starting at one user. Three agents calculate to €684 for 12 months at an unchanged rate. Its Private Cloud offer starts at 25 billed users at €21 per month, so its minimum annualised base is €6,300, not €756 for three agents. These are list-price calculations, not invoices; dollar and euro totals are not converted into a cheapest-plan ranking.
| Plan | Three-agent scenario | Scope caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Freshservice Growth | $1,764/year, annual billing | Chosen for the service catalogue and SLA brief. |
| Freshservice Pro | $3,564/year, annual billing | Use when the broader formal change/problem scope is required. |
| GLPI Network Public Cloud | €684 for 12 months at the displayed monthly rate | Public Cloud storage and availability terms apply. |
| GLPI Network Private Cloud | €6,300 annualised minimum for 25 billed users | Not priced as a three-seat plan. |
The small-print difference that matters
GLPI’s Public Cloud specification lists 5 GB of attachment storage and 97% annual availability, while Private Cloud has a different resource and service-level model. These are vendor-published terms, not measured uptime. The Public Cloud allowance is a material constraint for an attachment-heavy service desk or a service needing a stronger contractual availability commitment.
For Freshservice, match the selected plan to required controls and asset entitlements rather than assuming every feature on the website is included. The practical advantage of a hosted service is transferring some platform operation to the supplier, not eliminating responsibility for permissions, workflow design and exports.
Our choice for each team
Choose Freshservice Growth for the stated internal service workflow if its plan controls and asset allowance fit; move to Pro when the required workflow genuinely needs that tier. Choose GLPI Public Cloud for asset-centred support when its published capacity and availability terms are acceptable. Choose self-hosted GLPI for deliberate control of infrastructure with a named patching, backup and recovery owner.
No equivalent ticket-handling times, support-response results or full export test have been measured here. Those findings could change the operating-cost judgment. A sensible plan must preserve attachments, internal-note access and the support process; the smallest seat price alone does not establish value.
